Every year, a special ceremony is held at Wat Bangphra for young men to pay respect to their tattoo artist. Many people believe that the tattoos on their body have magical powers that can protect them or give them super powers. During this ceremony, their tattoos are blessed and recharged for another year. Some of the people present become so focussed that they feel that they have become possessed by the animals depicted on their tattoos.
I shot this video at Wat Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom Province. You really need to try and get there early as it gets very crowded and very hot.
