On the first day of the new year, hundreds of local people made merit early in the morning by giving food to the monks. Normally, people would do this individually outside their house, but as there were hundreds of people tables were lined up on both sides of the street. The monks then went up and down the line receiving food from the local people.
I shot this video in Paknam, Samut Prakan, at the start of the new year. I was there early at about 6.30 a.m.
